The Research and Innovation in Sport Excellence (RISE) lab is leading the way in sport research and innovation. Located in the department of Health and Human Performance at the University of Houston, we draw from a deep and talented faculty pool that spans sports research, sport programming, nutrition, biomechanics, community health and interventions, physiology and education.

WHAT WE DO

Our areas of focus include:

Sport Development and Performance

Our research focuses on using sport to overcome difficult transitions, chronic diseases and its effects on quality of life

Sport Programming

We develop innovative methods for sport programming.

Education

We provide training and workshops for organizations, teaching our methods to audiences worldwide.

Community Health

We study community health, disease prevention and effects of policies on community health.

Interventions

We design school and community interventions based on sports, nutrition and disease prevention.

Sport Organizations

We investigate and advise sport business organizations on creating strategic uses of sport programs and their delivery for optimal community impact.

School Based Sport Intervention Project

This project focused on the impact of school-based sport research programs on children’s physical activity, executive function, and academic achievement
